I have to admit to cheating with this one, as the pic wasn't taken today. I'm too tired to take a pic today, so I've used this one of a card I made for a friend a while ago.

Coincidence ...

..... (or co-inkydink - lol) is a strange thing.

I spent all day at work wondering what I could possibly find in my space, that was filligree. Then believe it or not, when I got home, Tim was there with a pair of earrings that he had just made - (yes, he makes fabulous jewellery!) .......... and they were filligree!!!

I'm still a bit shell-shocked about it, actually!

For the pic, I hung them over one of a gorgeous pair of decorated glasses that Tim and I received in a present a few years ago.

Talking about work .......

I work for an oil company in Aberdeen - the oil capital of Europe! - and they occasionally organise trips out, for example a day at the races, or a day at a football club. Well, this morning I found that the next one is for a day at the British Open Golf Championship at Carnoustie on July 21st! Wow!! I'm not a golfer (well, I used to be but thought better of it after I decided to put my thinking head on - hehehe), but Tim is - and I admit that I like watching on TV, so I've put my name down for it and I'm so excited!! :) Tim will have to pay, but I get it for free! Yay! :)

I am SO late with this today, but better late than never, I suppose!

So the word today is 'Bowl'. Once again, I couldn't decide between two, so here they are. The first is an absolutely gorgeous Polish crystal fruit bowl, standing on three little fat legs. My mum and dad bought it in Poland on one of their visits back to my dad's homeland.

The second bowl is a really darling little thing, which we found in mum's house. It looks like a cup and saucer, made to look like a daffodil, but they are joined together. I had no idea what it was, so I did a bit of sleuthing on the web and have discovered that it is a grapefuit bowl! I think it's fab!

Tim and I got a text from a friend today, asking if we wanted to go clay pigeon shooting on Friday. Well .......... although Tim can go if he fancies going, I can't for two reasons:

1) I'm working on Friday

2) I'm right-handed, but I'm blind in my right eye - therefore I would have to shoot left-handed, which I can't do!

Mary Woodhouse

said it best when she used to do her dog training programmes on TV. No-one can say "SiiiiiiiT" like she could. ANYone would have been scared to disobey her!

Anyway, today's prompt is 'Sit'. I took two and couldn't decide between them, so I'm doing both. The first is a wee teddy that I got from a company rep a couple of weeks ago and now he just sits on my computer at work, making me smile.

The second is my youngest granddaughter, Saffron, taken this lunch time in TGI-Friday', after she and Kerry appeared in the office to take me out for lunch. Yummy!!

She was deep in concentration at colouring in a picture. :)

So much for the CJ!

Not long after I posted on my blog this morning, big sis phoned to see if I wanted to go to mum's house to help with the clearing. Poor big sis has been doing it mostly by herself because I'm at work all week, so of course I went over! Clearing a house after a loved-one has died is never an easy thing to do. It was horrendous doing it after my darling son died and it's horrendous again doing it to mum's house.
It will be a huge relief to get it all finished and done with.

On a happier note .... it's brightened up quite a bit since this morning!

You will be! Who remembers that classic line from each intro to the spoof soap, called - 'Soap' (funnily enough)? :)

It applies my pic for the photo prompt on HS:MS today because, technically, this isn't. Soap, that is. It's a cream bar - PMSL!

It's just soap to me!

It's a really miserable day up here in Scotland - again! What's happened to flaming June?? It's wet and dull, but not too cold or windy.

Tim's away to his swordfighting class in Aberdeen, as per normal. I should be doing my pages for this month's CJ, but I really have no plan of what I want to do for it. Another in our circle had almost the same theme and I don't want simply to rehash what I did for that one. I really should be getting on with it .........

The Write Stuff

Oh how I cringed when I saw the prompt on HS:MS this morning.

The pic says it all! Lol

The pic is actually really clear in real life, but it's somehow a bit fuzzy when I upload it. Hmmmmmmm ...... how odd. If you click on it, it brings up a clearer image. Only if you want to, mind! :) Oh - and yes, I do bite my nails. :(

Yesterday was my elder daughter and son-in-law's 11th wedding anniversary. They haven't been able to celebrate yet because he is working offshore and won't be home till Tuesday evening. Certainly doesn't seem like 11 years to me. But as Kerry pointed out yesterday, her life is SO completely different now to what it was like when she and Simon got married, it kinda DOES seem like 11 years. They were both only 18 and had been together since they were 13 and now, 11 years and 4 kids later, they are still as much in love as they ever were - if not more so!

This is my take on the photo prompt today, which is 'Straight'. I tried a few different things, but this is the only one I was even remotely happy with!

This was taken while sitting at my desk at work. I took my camera with me today so that I could have more photo opportunities. Lol

So, that's another week of work over and done with. I can't believe how quickly the weeks are flying past. The sun was beating in through the roof window again this afternoon, so there was about an hour during which I simply could not use my computer, because I couldn't see the screen. Never mind - another week and a bit and I should have the new blind! Yay!

On another subject, Tim and I have been trying to get back the overdraft charges that were taken from our account during the past few years. Using template letters that he dowloaded from the web, we claimed all we were legally entitled to claim and now, a few weeks and a few letters later, we have won!!! We were claiming for two accounts and we got in the second reply yesterday. We probably won't get it for ages, but at least we know we ARE getting it. It's certainly not a fortune, but it's really been worth it for the sake of the price of a few stamps! Woohooooo for us!! :)

The word today is .....

Whilst sipping the cup that cheers, I love browsing through books about some of the places in the world I'd love to visit someday.

I got this one in Tesco yesterday evening for only £6.95 and it's chock-full of beautiful photographs.

Ah well - a girl can dream, can't she? :)

Printing ....

'Press' is the word of the day at HS:MS and this is what I came up with!

I'm still not feeling too well after last night's unwelcome migraine. Much as I love my job, I really couldn't wait to get home tonight, just to relax and take things easy for a couple of hours. I quickly snapped this pic and have decided to do the 'milk' one on another day.

Mmmmmmm .... a topic after my own heart today! Thought I'd try a bit of still life, but I don't think my camera is really up to it. I SOOOOOO want a digital SLR! My elder daughter, Kerry, has one and I covet it an obscene amount! Lol

One day, hopefully!

As normal, Tim is away to his Swordfighting group in Aberdeen. He won't be home till later today though, because they are holding their annual barbeque after the classes are finished this afternoon. I'm glad I decided not to go because it's thick fog again! When are we going to get some decent weather, I wonder???

Today's prompt is ....

..... 'Berry'. I'm just back from the garden, where I found this solitary holly berry, still clutching onto the branch from last year, amid the newly-set berries getting ready to ripen for this year.

Oh - and in case you're thinking that this isn't a holly tree because the leaves have no spiky bits ..... it's because the leaves on the higher branches seem to have mutated. The lower ones are still 'normal' though. Lol

The word today was 'Hat' .......... so here's mine! :) Well - not mine actually. It's Jodie's. She and Tim bought cowboy hats when we were in the USA many years ago and she left her one here when she moved out. It's a wee bit dusty as you can see, but I still like it.

Tim knows that I love Cadbury's Creme Eggs almost as much as I love him, so it was fab when I got up for work a few mornings ago and found this on the kitchen table! What a sweetie he is! :)

Saturday ......

...... should be a lovely day for me, after working hard all week. But I'm finding that I'm bored, bored, bored.
I'm trying to stay in some sort of regular sleep pattern, which means going to bed early and getting up early, but then it's hours before Tim gets up and I'm just bored!
Doesn't help that it's raining and miserable here today. I can't even go out and potter in the garden.
What to do, what to do?

Friday, 15 June 2007

is the prompt today. This is a fossilised razorshell that Tim (my DH) collected on one of his travels as a geologist. He also has fossilised fish, wood, more shells .... loads of stuff.

He also has stones. Loads of stones. Lorryloads. Quarryloads.

I finally persuaded him to put some of the larger ones in our garden, where I'm sure they will be much happier. :)

My daughter

has just been told that she has been awarded a First-Class Honours MA degree in religious studies! She has worked so hard for the past four years for this and now we are all simply over the moon for her!!

She can't help but be a bit sad that her granny (my mum) didn't live long enough to hear her final result though. My mum always wanted to know how she was doing and what her results were - and I think Jodie feels like her granny ought to be there to tell, but she isn't.

The graduation ceremony is on 2nd July and I can't wait!

Sunshine .....

.... came softly through my window today, (to quote Donovan).

In reception, almost directly above me where I sit at work, there is a huge, square roof window which is lovely because it lets in plenty light in the winter. But it's summer now and every afternoon, the sun streams in ...... NOT softly ...... making it virtually impossible to see my computer screen. Not to mention the greenhouse effect it causes!!! lol The heat is unbelievable!

I'm going to be trying to get someone to come and fit a screen or a blind or something to it, because it's not very nice having to squint at the screen all afternoon. Not nice at all.

The photo prompt today is 'Boat'

So, here is a photo of a fishing boat that ran aground at the other end of our glorious beach. It happened over a year ago and it's still there. I think it looks so sad and forlorn.

Her Space-My Space

I've been looking at my friend Ellie's blog and she uses photo prompts from a blog called 'Her Space - My Space', so I decided to use a couple of prompts today and here are my efforts.

Firstly, the prompt was 'Me' ......... so here I am!

The one above one was taken a few weeks ago, sitting at my desk at work. The one below was taken today, sitting at my desk at work! Sorry for the serious faces, but it's not the easiest thing in world, trying a take a pic with a mobile phone ..... hence the poor quality too.

The joys of Broadband are now mine!

Tim and I got Broadband installed today and I'm in love. Totally. Absolutely. Completely.
How did I manage for so long without it? We each have our own PC, so we opted for two wireless connections and now we're both on and it's fabulous!
