It's no secret that my family and I LOVE Hallowe'en! The grandkids love getting dressed up, but they don't go out 'trick or treating' as such .... they just come out here to visit, then go to see their other Grandparents and also go to see their Auntie Jodie. It's always a fabby fun evening. Tim and I got the kitchen decorated after I got home from work, with spooky fairy lights, bunting, lanterns, spider table sprinkles and loads more ...... then we laid out loads of goodies to eat and drink, complete with Hallowe'en crackers too! Oh - and a CD playing creepy sound effects! Great fun!

Here's the kitchen ......

Cameron was a Cyberman (he KNOWS I'm terrified of them! lol).

Kali was a cute lil kitten cat!

Aaliyah made an adorable vampire! (I've just noticed her hands. Yikes .... she really, really, really isn't making a 'v' sign!!!!!)

Saffron was a skeleton!

Ahhhh ..... much fun was had by all! Now I'm shattered and off to bed soon! *yawn*

Quick on the draw(er)

Just a real quickie today. Following SuzyB's example, here is my drawer at work.
Not too untidy, really!

I may be back with more later, depends if I find the time!

It's Hallowe'en!! Yay!

Can it really be 9 years ....

.... since my first grandchild was born? Well it must be, because here he is today (complete with his gob full of food!), on his 9th birthday! Happy birthday, Cameron! xxxx

Bedroom is the word today on HSMS. So here's our bed. When Tim makes the bed - which is every weekday, because I'm away to work before he gets up - this is how he arranges the soft toys. They're done completely differently at weekends, when I make the bed!! lolol

Most of these toys were gifts, including the yellow fishy in the middle, which was the very last thing my son ever gave me, so I will always treasure it ..... even though yellow is SOOO not my colour! lol I love this throw because it's nice and thick. We only ever use a summer-weight duvet all year, but we leave the throw on at night if it's very cold in winter.

Eyes are .....

.... the window to the soul, so they say. Who ARE this mysterious 'they' anyway? Whoever they are, they always seem to have plenty to say for themselves!! lol

Anyway ... I was going to cheat and take a photograph of my eye, but decided against it. I took various shots of the windows in the house but really didn't have a clue how to make them look interesting, then I decided to go outside and look IN! So this is taken through the patio doors/windows, looking in at the old upright piano, that BADLY needs tuning. It was pitch dark outside and it was very difficult to get a decent shot, but I like the graininess in this - it makes it look a bit mysterious! lol

Work today was hectic, as usual. I try to help as much peeps in the office as I can, so I do all the receptionist stuff ........ I help the accounts by inputting the day's incoming invoices into the computer ....... and I help personnel with course bookings, flight bookings, searching for accommodation, updating files, typing CV's etc. I also keep an eye on the stationery cupboard and say when anything is running low and needs re-ordering ..... same with the coffee, tea and biccies! :)

Never a dull moment!

Tim cooked sirloin steaks with home-made barbeque sauce, alonmg with potatoes and sweetcorn for supper. Oh yum, yum, yummmmmm!!

Sunday again

Oh such fun!! Last night was Hallowe'en Party night at our local pub and as usual, my girls and I dressed up and joined in the fun! So, my SOS pic today, is of me last night (taken by me too, I might add!).... I was chuffed with how I did my make-up and the wig was sooo cute! Kerry was dressed as a female Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton character)and she won 1st prize!!! Jodie was the Angel of Death and she won 2nd!! I'll try to get pics of them posted later!

As promised, here is a shot of my house and Irene & Zander's house. That's mine on the right, with my stable block and steadings in the middle, then Irene & Zander's on the left. As you can see, it's a glorious day here in my little corner of Scotland!

Oh dear, oh dear ....... as Claire pointed out yesterday, I misdated my pic this week again!! What am I like and is there ANY hope for me at all???? lol

Rainy Saturday

Well, it's not really rainy, it's just damp and miserable. The kind of day when you don't want to go out, but it's too boring to stay in. It's not like I don't have plenty to do .... I have some crafting to get done and I have my costume for tonight to get sorted out too. It's Hallowe'en party night at our local pub and my girls and I and maybe Tim (he hasn't made up his mind yet), along with a whole host of pals, chums, mates and friends will be going! It's always a fabby night out!

To answer Shannon's questions from yesterday .... Irene is my darling Big Sister and Zander is my fabulous Brother in Law.

On to today's word over on HSMS. Being Saturday, it can't be anything except Self-Portrait day. Urrrrrgh!!! I had a play with this one, just to do something different. lol

I got the New Zelda game for the Nintendo DS Lite and I love it! I've been playing various Zelda games for many years now and they always get me soooooo wound up and frustrated, that I hate them and swear I will never play again, but then I manage to solve a problem and I love them again! lolol Tim's got a Zelda game for his Wii, but he's downstairs right now, playing MINE on MY DS Lite .... AND he's beating me!! How unfair is that???? Grrrrrrrrrr.

Catch-up Friday

Sorry about the little hiatus yesterday, but I was so tired when I got home from work, I couldn't summon the energy to do much of anything. So tonight Matthew, I'm playing catch-up.

Today's word on HSMS, is Bathroom .... find a favourite spot, or object there. Well now, where else would you look to find a HUGE Lego model of an X-Wing Fighter, eh? Everybody knows they live in the bath!

Yesterday's word was Hall and here are two shots of mine. First one is a shot of my beloved, taken on the stairs yesterday, but I was too tired to get it uploaded. He loathes having his photo taken, but he had just arrived home from lecturing at Uni and he looked so smart that I pleaded with him to let me take some and to my utter amazement, he said ok!!

Second shot was taken from roughly the same spot a few years ago, during a LARP (Live-Action Role Playing) game at our house! That's Jodie on the right, being caught red-handed by some of our friends! lolol I love LARP .... it's so much fun, but can be sooooo scary at the same time!

Tim and I went over to see Irene and Zander for a wee while after supper. We didn't stay long because Tim had to get ready for his sword-fighting class and anyway, they were just about to have their own supper. The drives (we share an entrance from the road, then it splits in two) were being tarred today and won't be ready to be driven on for a couple of days, so our cars are parked in the field just now.

I'll really, really try to get a pic of the houses tomorrow.

A new theme!

Over on HSMS, we've finished our rainbow of colours and now we're moving on to favourite places / objects from different parts of the house, starting today with the lounge.

We've got 2 lounges .... our 'posh' one, that's only used at Crimbo and New Year (at other times, it's just used to store stuff - lol).... and our nice, cosy and friendly little one, which is the one we use all the time. The little one is where I took this shot. As you can see, it's a divided display box thingie. My first DH and I received it from one of his sisters when we were not long married - around 30 years ago now. Yikes!! Anyway, each section is no more than a couple of inches wide and high, give or take. I don't think there is one single thing I have bought for this. Each and every little thing has been a gift, so they all have special memories attached to them.

I love it ...... dust and all!! lol

The big news of the day is that Irene and Zander have officially moved in!! Yay! Now I just need to walk across the field to reach them! I'll try to get a pic of both houses when I have time, probably over the weekend.

Think Pink

So it's the last colour of the rainbow today over on HSMS. Yes, we know the last colour isn't pink, it's just that violet is too much like indigo, so we thought we could use a little artisitic licence!

I took this shot from the door of my office this morning, just as the day was breaking. That is how early I arrive at work! Everything had a really pink hue and it was kinda surreal because it was so intense. The photo hasn't really captured it because it was taken on my phone.

Inspired by Charli and keeping on the Pink theme, this is an old pic from last summer, when Kerry and I ran in the Race for Life in Aberdeen! Kerry looks fab - I look fit to collapse!! lolol

Irene and Zander have moved almost everything over from their old house now. Tim gave them a hand today, but can't tomorrow because he's off on another field trip.

Indigo indeed!

I remember as a teenager, wanting a pair of 'Indigo' jeans, but we weren't well-off and sadly, I never got them. As it turned out, this occurrence didn't actually affect my whole life .... ALL of my friends DIDN'T actually get them either and even if I'd actually managed to get 100 pairs back then, I'd actually still be the same person as I am now!

*Note the repeated use of 'actually'. This is actually a word that my grandkids seem to use a lot, for some reason or other.* lolol

So today's word over on HSMS is (actually) Indigo. I couldn't find anything in the house, so I came up with the definition instead! If you want to read it, click on the pic to get a bigger view.

My Senior Moment(s) on Saturday were twofold. This was made worse by the fact that Di had to point out the second one, after I'd noticed the first one myself!

To put those of you who couldn't find them out of your misery, the first was that I put the wrong month on it ..... September instead of October, then I labelled it SOS, instead of SPS! Oh dear. My brain is blancmange!

SPS and a Senior Moment

I took this earlier this morning, just after I'd come back from town to pick up this month's Scrapbook Inspirations. There's stuff from both Kirsty and Anita in there this month!

You may have to click on the image to enlarge it so you see, but can any of you spot my Senior Moment? lolol

Actually, it's definitely a HUGE senior moment, because Diana has pointed out ANOTHER mistake, besides the one I noticed myself! *shakes head* There's really no hope for me!! lol

So my beloved is away for the day, tutoring yet another field trip. He's off on Wednesday too for another one. At least he's got a nice day for it - it's lovely and sunny here - if a bit on the chilly side, but what do you expect for the middle of October.

Irene and Zander's house is soooooo close to bing finished now. They are hoping to get moved in sometime during this coming week!! Yay!

I received this month's CJ this morning. Oh dear, oh dear. What do I do for Art Deco that hasn't been done already in there? I think I may have an idea, but I'm not sure how it will translate to the pages. I'll just have to try it and see!

Blue Friday

Actually, it's not in the least bit blue because it's the weekend!! Yay!

So over on HSMS today, the word is 'Blue'. That brings to mind another gorgeous song by Justin Hayward and John Lodge, called Blue Guitar. The word also reminds of a fab album of country covers, by none other than Mr Elvis Costello, called Almost Blue. I have it on vinyl and I'd be very surrpised if it was still playable! The grooves must be worn smooth rhe amount of times it's been played! lol

Anyway - here's my shot for today. I've gone for an X-Rated one today! lol It's my trusty little X-Xyron of course!

It's 6.30pm and it's almost completely dark outside. It's going to get dark SOOOOO early when the clocks change back in a couple of weeks time. :(

Thursday, 18 October 2007

This is a blatant cheat from me - more ways than one! Firstly, it wasn't taken today and secondly, I'm using it to combine my orange, yellow and green shots into one. lol

I took this in my garden last year, with my old camera and I have to admit, I can really see how much better my new one is!

It's been a long and very busy week at work. I really cannot wait till tomorrow night, when I get home. I feel like getting home, getting washed and changed, then vegging out with a nice bottle of wine, safe in the knowledge I don't have to get up at 4.30am on Saturday!

And finally, I'd like give a big 'Thank you' to Caroline (Pretty Pink Cards) who very kindly awarded me the fab 'You Make me Smile' award!! :) Thank you!!! XXXX

Sooo tired

Well, despite my very best intentions during the day to get my HSMS pics done and uploaded, I find myself far too tired again this evening. We're just so busy at work at work just now - and by the time I get home, got washed and changed, then had supper, I'm just totally cream crackered!

The weather has taken a turn for the colder up here today. When BIL and I were driving to work this morning, it was a paltry 3 degrees!! Brrrrrrrr.

For supper this evening, Tim made chicken breasts with a sort of guacamole pesto, but there were green chillis, red onions and some coriander in there too. He also made a salad dressing with lemon juice, olive oil and something else, the name of which escapes me at the moment. No pudding tonight, which was just as well, because I was stuffed after the chicken! lol

After that, I finally got the CJ done and dusted and packed up ready to go in to post tomorrow morning. Or so I thought. Tim says he has to be in Uni early tomorrow, so he won't be able to post it till Friday. Never mind, eh?

I can sing a rainbow

We've got three weeks of weekly challenges on HSMS just now, the first of which is 'Rainbow', starting today with Red. I took this first shot with my phone at work(hence the terrible quality), where I gathered up all the red things near my desk!

When I got home from work, Tim had cooked me a delicious meal of smoked cod and cannellini beans with parsley and olive oil .... followed by this scrummy yummy dessert. It's got fresh raspberries and blackberries covered with some raspberry coulis at the bottom of the glass, then in the middle, it's got greek yoghurt mixed with honey, then topped off with more coulis and fresh fruit! Mmmmmmmmmm!! And just the right colour for today's word! Well, it's more of a burgundy/winey/purply colour, but hey ho!

Aaliyah's big day

No SOS thread from Kirsty over on HSMS today, so I'll just post this shot of Aaliyah this afternoon, at her 6th birthday party. She had a great time, as did we all - even though it was a bit noisy!! lol

That's the weekend almost over again. Why, oh why, does it go soooooo quickly?

Saturday, 13 October 2007

Is it 'that' day again already?

By 'that' day, of course I mean SPS day! Well, here's mine for this week. It's a lovely, sunny day here so I thought I would take a shot of me looking out of the patio doors, complete with eyes screwed up against the bright sun! lol

At long last, it seems that big sis Irene and BIL Zander, will be moving in to their new house next door, within the next week or so! I can't wait. Their kitchen and bathrooms are almost all done, the carpet layers are coming on Monday and the water should be switched on sometime this week. Oooooh - it's all getting so exciting now!

Tim is off tutoring another geology field trip today. Not so glamorous as the Alps and Pyrenees this time though ..... it's just about 50-60 miles up the coast from here! While I'm on the subject of his geology .... it looks like he's going to be able to carry on with his PhD after all. He had a couple of meetings with his supervisor and the head of the school (the head of the whole Physical Sciences faculty) and he has asked Tim if he would like a part-time position as his research assistant!!! Would he? Oh yeah, baby!!! The job includes tutoring and lecturing 1st year geology students, doing more field trips and anything else that needs doing. It's only 2 days per week and they are quite happy for Tim to carry on doing his work for the other university too! We're both thrilled to pieces!

Right!! I really and truly MUST get on with the CJ! I won't have much time tomorrow because it's Aaliyah's 6th birthday and I'm helping Kerry to supervise a whole host of kiddypops at her bowling party! Yikes. lol

Friday, 12 October 2007

I thought B & W would be better ......

..... for displaying my tongue. Perhaps not quite so sickening as in full colour! lol I love my tongue stud! It's around 10 years since I got it done and it's over 12 years since I got the nose ring put in. I wouldn't be without either of them!

Wahey - it's Friday again!! Seems to have been a long old week, this week - don't know why. I only know that I'm so glad it's the weekend. Tim's off out to teach his swordfighting class and I really MUST go and get the pages done for this month's CJ. I've got a bit of a busy weekend lined up, so not too much chance to craft, I'm afraid.

Right - that's my lot for tonight. I'm off to click that YouTube link in Sue Nicholson's blog, so I can see Cilla singing Step Inside, Love! Byeeeeeee!

Thursday, 11 October 2007

Game show

Or in this case, show 'Game'. lol

Today's word over on HSMS is 'Game' and I took my inspiration from Charli, who showed her Nintendo DS. I was bragging in my comment to her, that my brain age is 22 ...... and here's the proof! Yay me! Now before any of you say anything about Tim's brain being younger than mine, I will let you know that in real life, he is 9 years younger than me! Yay me again!! :)

Wednesday, 10 October 2007

Step inside, love

Good ole Cilla, eh? That was the title of one of her hit songs. Young 'uns today probably don't realise she was a pop singer first. Worra lorra laffs! lol

Anyway, I'm waffling. The word today over on HSMS is 'Steps' and here are some of mine!

Kerry, Simon and the 4 little 'uns drove to Glasgow today for Simon's granny's funeral. They knew their car needed three new tyres, so they took it to a local tyre place and got them replaced yesterday. On their way back home this afternoon, the car started to make the most awful knocking noises, so they stopped at Stirling and took it to a garage to see what was wrong. You won't believe this, but NONE of the nuts on one of the wheels had been tightened!! Arrrrgh! I'm dumbfounded. A silly mistake like that could have cost the six of them their lives. Doesn't bear thinking about. In the end, the garage in Stirling got it all sorted and they're back on the road as I type. Oh thank goodness they're all ok.

My 'weed' pic ....

..... is now on my desktop at work! lol

Tuesday, 9 October 2007

What a crock!

The word over on HSMS today is 'Crockery' and even though I'd been thinking about what to do all day at work, I still had no real idea by the time I got home. I took shots of my everyday crockery, my 'Christmas' crockery and some others, but wasn't happy with any of them. Then I remembered some of the dishes that I got from mum's house after she died and decided to go with them. These were our granny's Sunday Best dishes and both Irene and I remember eating many Christmas dinners off these as children! Over the years, quite a few of the pieces have been broken, or are just missing, so we decided to split the remaining ones between us - and these are my share.

The heating in our offices is still not fixed, so we have loads of little fan heaters going in the mornings to try to heat up the place! BIL and I get there at about 6.20am and it's like an ice box!! Hope it gets fixed before winter sets in!

Hands up who likes Justin Hayward?

For those of you too young to remember, Justin was the singer with the Moody Blues and had/has the most amazing, achingly beautiful, voice.

Where am I going with this, I hear you ask? Well ....... many years ago, he recorded a gorgeous song on the War of the Worlds album, called ....... Forever Autumn. And there you have it - it may be a tenuous link with the word of the day over on HSMS, but 'tis a link nonetheless - and the perfect excuse to mention the sublime Mr Hayward in my blog!

So, although not as beautiful as his voice, here is my shot for today. Taken in my garden after I got home from work, it's the seed head of some kind of dandelion-type weed!

Sunday, 7 October 2007

Here's mine for today. I took this one of Kali yesterday, played with it a bit and liked the results ..... I just wish I could remember what I had done! lol

So the craft room is now as finished as it's going to be. There are still a few things lying around with no homes to go to, so they'll just stay put. I have to say, I do love my craft room. I have a desk for my beloved computer ..... an old drop-leaf table for my sewing machine ..... and now a lovely new unit for my crafting. I could quite happily spend my life up here!

In the pic above, I'm standing in front of the window, with my sewing table to my left and my computer desk to my right.

This room used to be shared by my two girls, until Kerry got married, then it was left to Jodie. After my son Craig moved out, Jodie moved into his old room and we put a double bed in here. Didn't last long though. When Jodie moved out, we shifted the double bed in to her old room and that empty room is now MINE!!!!! Mwahahahahahaha!!!

By the way, here is the original shot of Kali ...

Saturday, 6 October 2007

SPS .... again!

Can't stop ...... we're busy rearranging my craft room! Be back later though! :)

I'm back!!

Some of you have asked what I was thinking about in this shot. Well, to tell the truth, I was just thinking that I hoped I didn't look too fat! lol The fact that I do is neither here nor there! I also played about with it in Photoshop Elements. Not sure if I like it or not.

Most of my craft room is done now. Blimey! Much more like hard work than I thought it would be. Big sis (Irene) and BIL were getting rid of some old bedroom furniture and they asked me if I wanted it. Yes please!! The units are great, with drawers and cupboards and a long, long surface. It's L-Shaped too! So that's what I've been doing. Getting rid of my old drop-leaf table and getting the new stuff in. I'm still not totally finished yet, but definitely getting there. Actually, it's not strictly true that I'm getting rid of the drop-leaf table. it's now going to be used to permanently hold my sewing machine, so it's always at hand. Up to now, it's been kept UNDER the table and it was always such a dread having to get it out.

Right - I'd better get on. I'll take a piccie and post it when I'm done. Probably won't be today though!

I've been tagged!!

I've been tagged by Rachael amongst others! Thanks girls!

Here are the rules which you must abide by if you are tagged.

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
4. Let them know they've been tagged by leaving a comment at their blogs.

Do you suffer from insomnia? Read on and you won't!! lol

1. Apart from my ears and my nose, I also have my tongue pierced. It's been done for almost 10 years and I love it. I love it so much, that when I had to have emergency surgery a few years ago I had to take the piercing out and I missed it so much that I had it redone!

2. I'm allergic to cheese. It gives me very, very, very bad migraines. I haven't eaten cheese deliberately since I was 11 years old.

3. I've only had two boyfriends in my entire life - and I married both of them! Not at the same time, I hasten to add! Married first when I was 18 and was widowed at 31. Married Tim in 2000.

4. I'm half Polish. My dad came over to Britain during WWII and settled up here in NE Scotland. I've only been to Poland once - when I was 6 years old. I still have very pleasant and happy memories of that holiday.

5. I stopped smoking in March 2006 - and although I would never start again, I still miss it. Stupid, I know - but there you are!

6. My favourite work of art is the Vitruvian Man by daVinci. He has been my wallpaper on every single PC I have ever had in the last ten-and-a-half-years. Tim bought me a huge poster of Mickey Mouse posing as the Vitruvian Man, from DisneyWorld in Florida a few years ago. I even saw a Vitruvian Santa rubber stamp, but didn't manage to buy it cos it was out of stock. :(

7. My biggest regret = I went to Las Vegas with my three kids for a one night stopover(during a holiday in California)just so I could fly over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter. The states were going through an unusually hot spell in April that year and it was sweltering! Apart from that one day ........... when it was a complete white-out blizzard. Flight cancelled - and no Grand Canyon. Boo Hoooooo. Someday, I 'll go back ......

Asleep yet? :)

Right - I tag:

Sorry if you've been tagged already!

As soon as I saw the word, I knew I had a shot that I could use. It's a cheat because it was taken a few months ago, but I think it's appropriate!

Here are Tim and his friend Michael, practicing their Longsword technique in our garden. Those swords are HEAVY!!!

Sorry I didn't get on yesterday. Hoping to catch up with you all tonight though!

Back to work

Although it's great to be feeling fine again, that also means I'm back at work. I really do like my job, but if I had a choice, I wouldn't work at all. Just imagine ..... all day to take photographs, surf the web and to craft - bliss!

This dreadful lurgy is really doing the rounds up here. Three of my four grandchildren have had it, my son-in-law has had it .... and now Kerry has it. Tim hasn't succumbed yet, but I fear it's only a matter of time. Good thing it's really only a one or two day thing.

So over on HSMS, the word of today is 'Tray'. I've chosen to take a pic of the secret tray in the bottom of my Tote-ally Cool .... mainly because I couldn't think of what else to do! lol

Kerry has her one all filled up already, but mine is still forlornly empty!

Tuesday, 2 October 2007

Playing catch-up

Apologies for my non-appearance yesterday, but I had the dreaded lurgy. Still not feeling 100%, but definitely getting there!

The word today on HSMS is 'Card', so here are some! The credit/debit ones are an essential part of any self-respecting papercrafter's kit!

Here's my 'Wheel' pic for yesterday. Tim makes model aeroplanes and there are a fair number of them on the shelves in the spare bedroom - this is a wheel from one of them. Woe betide if any of them get broken, so I keep well clear and leave the dusting of them to him. Therefore, I take no responsibility for the appearance of said dust in this shot! lol
