Ouch!

My darling son-in-law had an accident on the rig a couple of weeks ago. His thumb got trapped between two swinging pipes and this is the result .....

He got an operation lasting four hours and the surgeon managed to get it all back in place using plates and screws and whatnot.

To bring you up to date, he now has the plaster off and the stitches removed. He has to move it as much as possible, but it is still very swollen, because not only did he break the bone, but there was extensive soft tissue damage too.

He is due to be starting back on the rig that belongs to the company that I work for, on 6th May, but he has to get a 'Fit to Return' certificate from a doctor first. He's going for it next week and I am crossing my fingers and hoping SO MUCH that he gets it. It's so hard for him with a wife and four children to provide for.

I was out in the garden taking pics of the trees. I do LOVE pussy willow, don't you?

On the forum, we had to make and decorate three luggage tags for a swap. Here are mine ....

The flowers are stamped, coloured, then covered with Diamond Glaze.

Then we had to make a pocket tag book as a direct swap. This is the one I made, using my Bind-it-All. Stupidly, I forgot to photograph the inside!

In a moment of madness, I have entered the ballot for a place in this ......

Ever since I was in my twenties, I have had this irrational desire to run in - and complete - a marathon. I am in my early fifties now and it's getting to the stage of thinking, "Well Bobs, if you don't do it now, you never will".

The chances are that my entry will not be successful, but even if it isn't, I can still almost cetainly get a place if I apply directly to a charity and get one of their guaranteed places. The only downside of that, is I would have to raise a minimum amount of money and living in a wee small place like I do, that could prove to be very hard indeed.

On the bright side, if I DO get a place in the ballot, I can CHOOSE to run for a charity and there would be NO minimum amount. Even if I only raised a fiver, that would be ok.

I would definitely run to raise money for Bowel Cancer. My mum died of this terrible disease last year and my granny (her mum), died of the same thing three years before that.

Am I completely insane????

I think I am!
