No, not reading books - but the Reading Festival. Kerry and Simon were away down to see the Sunday shows this year. This meant that Tim and I were in charge of the four grandkids for the weekend!

On Saturday, we took them to Portsoy, a lovely little fishing village about 30 miles along the coast from where we live. It's got picturesque old harbour .....

.... and up on the hill beside here, is what seems like a random old gable-end, with window ...

Somewhere, I have a photograph of my own two girls - at around this age - on this very window. I shall have to hunt it out sometime!

There's short-ish coastal path that leads to a disused outdoor tidal swimming pool, where we stayed for ages. Saffron and Kali were very interested in the rocks and stones and of course Tim, being a geologist, was in his element, pointing out to them the different gniesses, granites, sandstones, quartzites and schists, to name but a few!

(It's all schist to me! Lolol)

Aaliyah preferred to pose ....

While Cameron liked to do his own thing, as most boys do .....

Saffron led Tim to safety ...

.... and so did Cameron!

Then we went back to the harbour and taught Cameron how to skim stones! You can spot his stone in this shot!

More tomorrow!

Now then GRAN ITES not just rockS AND STONEs, not to the gNIESS (lovely) Tim it's not.

Fabulous photos, really lovely moments in time. I can't believe how they've grown, must be ages since I saw pics of them. The gable-end one frames them so well.

Hiya Bobs :-)

Saw your comment on Eleanor's post and came straight over for a catch up :-)

Great shots of your time with your grandchildren. I'd be shattered after all that plus the "seaside" fresh air.

Hope all is well with you and Tim.

Bye for now . . . Sue :-)

Another lovely report there, Bobs. Super pics, love 'em. The kids look like they're really enjoying themselves.
