I have neglected my photo-taking in my garden these past few weeks. Things are definitely changing, with very obvious signs that summer is on the way out.
I found a fairy ring, hidden beneath the fallen leaves -
and this little chap too. So tiny and such a vibrant colour.
I also found little Star, sitting in the sun, down by the barn. I was this close and she still couldn't see or hear me. Bless her little whiskers!
On HSMSHS on Facebook, Wisdom for the Weekend comes in the lyrics to "In my Life", by The Beatles.
"There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more"
This photo sums up these lyrics for me. This was taken in the ruins of Deer Abbey in Aberdeenshire and that's my darling mum in the doorway. Although she lived most of her life in this region, she had never visited Deer Abbey, so one day, on the way home after taking her to yet another hospital appointment, I took her there.
She was very ill by this time and didn't manage to stay for long, but she loved it all the same. I took this quick snap on my mobile phone but wish I had had my DSLR with me so the quality would have been better.
It's now over two years since she died, but I can never pass Deer Abbey without thinking of her.
Love you, mum.
